Summer Coming

I can't be for certain, but I believe summer is inching its way closer.  We have had some pretty nice days over the last month (along with some pretty crappy ones too).  Nolan's soccer team has been going strong in the spring season.  So far they are 2-1 and Nolan scored his first spring goal in the second game.  He had a bunch in the fall and so he is picking up where he left off.  In addition to soccer, Nolan started baseball practice as well.

I have been promoted from assistant coach to the manager of the Franklin Rookie Division A's. The pay is the same but that is ok.  We should have a pretty good team this year.  Most of the players from last year are back and we were able to get a couple more of Nolan's friends from a different team last year onto the A's this year.

Evan is going strong in his swim class and t-ball practice starts this week for him.  Evan is definitely geared up for kindergarten next year.  We just found out who his teacher will be and we are very happy.....although we were in a no lose situation because both of the kindergarten teachers are great.  I can't believe how fast he is growing.  Somedays I think he is 5 going on 15.

Robin and I are doing well.  Work is work for the both of us and grad school is proving to be quite the time commitment.  Between work, sports and school, there really isn't much time left for anything else.  What little time I do have I have been spending running (stress reliever).  I have just a hair over 125 miles logged since the beginning of March.  I have convinced Chucky Larson (Altoona class of 1990) to do a 5k in August with me.  My first 5k will be in June, and I will run at least one a month.  What little time Robin has is spent working on some curtains for Nolan, attending the monthly parent group meetings, and trying to put up with 3 boys at home.

Waiting For Summer

I am sure most of you are anxiously awaiting the warm weather to show up and stay around for awhile.  We are getting a little stir crazy and need to be outside.  There really isn't a lot of new news around the Brew City for us.  I am just finishing up my first grad course in my Ed. Leadership program.  It was so much easier during my first masters program because Evan wasn't born and Nolan was pretty little yet.  With the boys being a little older, work, school, coaching and life in general becomes a little more difficult to manager.

Nolan has his last basketball game today.  He has done a great job (and the rest of the team too).  Last week we were able to play on a larger court and I was really amazed at how well the boys played.  I have them actually running a very basic flex offense, and they seem to get it.

Evan is loving school and still takes swimming lessons.  I feel like he is 5 going on 15 some days....actually he thinks he is 15 some days.  Evan is probably the most ready for the warm weather, he really wants to be outside and riding his bike all the time.  His goal is to get rid of the training wheels this summer......we will be buying lots of Band-Aids :)

Robin will be heading up north to go shopping with Jennifer, Julie and my mom.  Look out Mall of America....this is your warning!!!

Come on Spring

Well, February is upon us, and today in Milwaukee it is nearly 50 degrees.  To say we have spring fever is an understatement.  I just hope the good weather is here to stay, but I know better.  Nolan's basketball season is in full swing.  We practice every Wednesday and have games every Saturday.  The boys do a great job and it is very exciting.  In addition to basketball, Nolan just finished up a hitting camp for baseball and we start our catchers camp tomorrow.

Last weekend we went to the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells for a few days with a number of families from Nolan and Evan's school.  It was the first time to a water park for our boys and they had a blast!!!  Nolan went on every ride, including the "T
oilet Bowl", which is a water slide that shoots you into a big bowl and you spin around and around and then drop through a hole on the bottom into a pool.  Evan wanted to try every ride, but he is still learning to swim, so he was disappointed he couldn't do the "Toilet Bowl".  It was a great time unit I woke up Monday morning with a very sick stomach.  I am not sure if it was a flu bug or a small bout of food poisoning.  Either way, it sucked.

Evan's Birthday

Well, Evan is now 5. For his birthday, he wanted to go bowling (I did everything I could to change his mind) so last Sunday we went bowling with the Schmidt's and Grandma Pat. Enjoy the video.

Holiday Recap

I hope the holiday season was as good to you as it was to us. It is not official, but I am pretty sure we are a licensed Lego distributor at this point. The boys each received a bunch of lego sets, among other things, and they were in heaven. Our family spent Christmas down in Milwaukee with Robin's family and then we headed up north over New Year's to have Christmas with my family. It was great seeing everyone!

It is amazing that it is 2009, it still has not sunk in. Nolan starts basketball tomorrow and he is in a baseball hitting camp this month and a catchers camp next month. Basketball practice on Wednesdays, games on Saturday, and baseball on Sundays......already tired.

In addition to all the sports, I have decided to get another Masters degree in Educational Leadership. When I am done, I will have a Director of Instruction license and a Principal license. I am going through Cardinal Stritch again and I should be done in about 18 months. Classess meet every Thursday for 4 hours beginning January 29. I am looking forward to starting, but let's see he how I feel 6 months from now.

Happy New Year!!!
